Kathryn R. Baker, M.D.

Ophthalmologist and eye surgeon Kathryn Baker, M.D., joined the staff of The Eye Center of Oak Ridge in October 2008.

A Grainger County native who grew up in Rutledge, Dr. Baker completed her residency in ophthalmology at the Havener Eye Institute in Columbus, Ohio, in 2008. She completed a family practice internship at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, Erlanger Medical Center, in Chattanooga in 2005.

Dr. Baker was vice-president of her class at the James H. Quillen College of Medicine at East Tennessee State University when she graduated with her medical degree in 2004. While in school, she served as president of the Christian Medical and Dental Association and was organizer and donor in the Wigs for Kids Campaign in 2002.

She graduated from the University of Memphis with a bachelor’s degree, majoring in biology with a minor in chemistry, after earning an associate’s degree from Walters State Community College.

Dr. Baker and her husband, Chad, are the parents of a daughter, Lauryn, and a son, Jonathan. They have a dog named Oliver.

She is a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and she is board certified in ophthalmology.

Dr. Baker enjoys doing medical missions with her church, Grace Baptist.
