Eric E. Speckner, M.D.

Ophthalmologist and eye surgeon Eric E. Speckner, M.D. joined the staff of The Eye Center of Oak Ridge in April 2013. He has been in private practice in Knoxville since 2011.

A native of Florida, Dr. Speckner finished high school in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He stayed in Murfreesboro and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Middle Tennessee State University in 2002 with a degree in Chemistry. He earned his medical degree from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine at Memphis in 2006.

Dr. Speckner completed an internship in internal medicine at The Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio followed by an ophthalmology residency and chief year at the University of Cincinnati in 2010. He then received additional training, completing a clinical glaucoma fellowship at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada in 2011.

Dr. Speckner is board-certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is also a member of the American Glaucoma Society.

Dr. Speckner’s wife, Lauren, is a pediatrician in Knoxville. They have one son and one daughter and enjoy spending time with family, walking their dogs, hiking, cooking, UT sports, and Indiana basketball.
