Ophthalmologist and eye surgeon Francis R. Reid, M.D., has been in private practice in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, since 1979. He is one of the founders of The Eye Centers, a specialized eye care practice comprised of 12 physicians.
Dr. Reid graduated Alpha Omega Alpha from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in 1975, and completed his internship and residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Tennessee Center for Health Sciences in Memphis.
He is board certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
In addition to his surgical practice, Dr. Reid is the past Chief of Staff at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge, a member hospital of the Covenant Health System. He has served on the Board of Directors for Covenant Health, the Board of Methodist Medical Center and on the Credentials Committee for the Medical Center.
In 1993, Dr. Reid received the Tennessee Hospital Association's Meritorious Service Medical Staff Award. This award is given to one Tennessee physician each year to recognize excellence in medical staff leadership.
Since 1994, Dr. Reid has been teaching Medical Staff Leadership seminars. These educational courses are presented nationwide, and have been attended by more than 18,000 physician and hospital leaders from all 50 states.
Dr. Reid is married and has three children.
